Protect the Temple Sanctity and Perform Your Duties with Utmost Devotion and Caution: High Court Advises Kandararu Brahmadattan
Kochi: The Kerala High Court has advised Kandararu Brahmadattan, who has been selected as the new Thantri of Sabarimala, to perform his duties by upholding the sanctity of the temple, respecting its administrative traditions, and protecting the faith of devotees.
The Devaswom Bench of the High Court reminded Brahmadattan to carry out his responsibilities with the utmost devotion and caution. The court said every decision he takes should be guided by the best interests of the presiding deity. It also directed him to give top priority to preserving the temple's rituals, customs, and traditions while ensuring the spiritual well-being and welfare of devotees.
The observations were made while the High Court approved the Travancore Devaswom Board's decision to appoint Kandararu Brahmadattan as the new Thantri of Sabarimala. The approval came through an order issued by the Devaswom Bench.
Brahmadattan will officially assume charge as the new Thantri when the Sabarimala temple opens on Chingam 1 (the first day of the Malayalam month of Chingam). He is the son of the present Thantri, Kandararu Rajeevararu.
The decision to appoint the new Thantri was taken at a meeting of the Travancore Devaswom Board held at its headquarters. Rajeevararu had earlier requested the Board to appoint his son as his successor, stating that he would be unable to perform the duties during the Chingam poojas due to health issues. The decision was finalized at the Board meeting chaired by TDB President K. Jayakumar.
