Devaswom Minister Orders Urgent Inquiry over Sabarimala Thiruvonam Feast
Thiruvananthapuram: Devaswom Minister K. Muraleedharan has directed the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) to conduct an urgent inquiry into the controversy surrounding allegations that the traditional Thiruvonam feast at Sabarimala was disrupted.
The Minister instructed the TDB to ensure proper procedures are followed in matters related to Annadanam (free food distribution) and other food arrangements at Sabarimala. The inquiry will examine whether there were any lapses in coordination while making changes to the existing arrangements.
The Minister also directed the Board to take strict action against those responsible if any lapses are found during the inquiry.
The TDB has further been asked to formulate clear procedures to ensure better coordination and efficient management of Annadanam-related activities at Sabarimala. Necessary arrangements should also be put in place to prevent similar complaints or confusion in the future, the Minister said.
Meanwhile, TDB President K. Jayakumar has clarified that there was no situation in which the Thiruvonam feast at Sabarimala was actually disrupted.
The Minister's directive comes amid the continuing controversy over allegations that the traditional feast was not served at Sabarimala on Thiruvonam. The inquiry is expected to establish whether there were any actual lapses in the arrangements and coordination related to Annadanam.
Further action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry report.
