Remarks Hurt Hindu Community: Sabarimala–Malikappuram Melshanti Samajam Complains to PM Against Sunny M. Kapikkad
Pathanamthitta: The Sabarimala–Malikappuram Melshanti Samajam has lodged a formal complaint against Sunny M Kapikkad, saying that his recent remarks concerning Lord Ayyappa were insulting to the deity and hurt the religious sentiments of devotees.
Puthumana Manu Namboothiri, speaking on behalf of the association, said the remarks had caused deep distress among those who have served as priests at Sabarimala as well as devotees.
The association has demanded exemplary legal action against Kapikkad, arguing that strong action is necessary to prevent similar remarks in the future. It said such comments could hurt the faith and sentiments of the Hindu community.
The association had initially submitted a complaint to the Kerala government but claimed that the response was inadequate. It has now submitted a complaint directly to the Prime Minister of India, seeking action over the alleged remarks
Meanwhile, the controversy is also being considered by the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB). The Board is expected to discuss the issue at its meeting on Thursday and decide whether to file a formal police complaint or initiate other legal proceedings.
The developments come amid growing protests and demands for action against Kapikkad over his comments concerning Lord Ayyappa and Malikappurathamma.
