State Government to Strengthen Control Over Sabarimala; Development Authority Planned
Pathanamthitta: The Kerala government is set to strengthen its control over development activities at Sabarimala by forming a new Sabarimala Development Authority, which is expected to reduce the administrative role of the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) in development-related matters.
The authority’s first meeting is scheduled to be held on September 11.
The primary objective of the new authority will be to ensure the time-bound implementation of projects under the Sabarimala Master Plan. It will focus on providing essential infrastructure for pilgrims at the Sannidhanam and surrounding areas, coordinating development projects, and supervising construction activities.
The authority will coordinate the functioning of various departments involved in Sabarimala’s development, including the Travancore Devaswom Board, Forest Department and Police Department.
The government believes that the new administrative mechanism will help accelerate the completion of major projects included in the Sabarimala Master Plan and improve coordination among the agencies involved in the pilgrimage centre’s development.
