1,500 Special Police Officers to Be Deployed for Sabarimala Season
Thiruvananthapuram: The Keralam government has approved the appointment of 1,500 Special Police Officers for the upcoming Sabarimala Mandala-Makaravilakku pilgrimage season.
The Special Police Officers will be deployed for maintaining law and order and managing crowds at Sabarimala. The decision was taken after approving a recommendation from the Director General of Police (DGP).
The special deployment is intended to ensure that the regular duties of the police force are not affected during the pilgrimage season. Retired police personnel, ex-servicemen and NCC cadets will be appointed as Special Police Officers.
They will be paid a daily remuneration of ₹770, with the appointments being made for 60 days.
