Sabarimala Gold Theft Case: Court Grants Bail to P.S. Prashanth Citing Health Condition
Kollam: Former Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) president P.S. Prasanth has been granted bail in the Sabarimala gold theft case. The Kollam Vigilance Court granted bail, taking into consideration his health condition.
Prasanth was admitted to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital late last month after suffering a brain haemorrhage. Another accused in the case, former TDB member A. Ajikumar, had earlier been granted bail.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) arrested Prasanth on July 23 in connection with the case involving the removal of the Sabarimala Dwarapalaka panels for gold plating in 2025.
According to the SIT, the removal and transportation of the Dwarapalaka panels to Chennai in 2025 was part of a conspiracy to cover up the alleged gold theft that took place in 2019. The investigation also found that the then Devaswom Board leadership had a role in granting the required administrative approvals and processing the related files.
