Southern Railway Announces Pooja Festival Special Trains Between Chennai, Kollam, Charlapalli and Sengottai
Chennai: Southern Railway has announced special train services for the Pooja festival season, including additional services connecting Chennai with Kollam and Charlapalli with Sengottai.
Train No. 06121 Chennai Egmore–Kollam Weekly Express Special will operate on October 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31, departing Chennai Egmore at 11:40 PM and reaching Kollam at 4:20 PM the next day. The return service, Train No. 06122 Kollam–Dr MGR Chennai Central Weekly Express Special, will run on November 4, 11, 18, 25 and December 1, departing Kollam at 6:45 PM and arriving at Dr MGR Chennai Central at 11:35 AM the next day.
Southern Railway has also announced Train No. 07191 Charlapalli–Sengottai Express Special, operating on October 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30, and November 6, 13, 20 and 27. The train will depart Charlapalli at 7:15 AM and reach Sengottai at 2:00 PM the following day. The return service, Train No. 07192 Sengottai–Charlapalli Express Special, will run on October 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31, and November 7, 14, 21 and 28, departing Sengottai at 5:40 PM and reaching Charlapalli at 12:30 AM on the third day.
The services will provide additional rail connectivity during the Pooja festival period, with stoppages at major stations along the respective routes. Advance reservations for these special trains opened at 8:00 AM on September 23, 2026.
