Two Deaths Reported on Sabarimala Trek Route: Pilgrim and Devaswom Guard Collapse During trek



Sabarimala, Pathanamthitta – June 16, 2025:

Two individuals lost their lives on the trekking path between Pampa and Sannidhanam on Sunday, in two separate incidents that occurred near Marakkoottam..

In the first incident, Prajwal aged 20-years-old, a native of Ramanagara, Karnataka, collapsed near Shed No. 5 while trekking uphill to the Sannidhanam. Though he was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital, doctors confirmed that he had passed away upon arrival.

The second incident involved Gopakumar 60-years-old, from Chepra, Kollam, who was serving as a temporary guard with the Travancore Devaswom Board. He had completed his duty at Marakkoottam and was returning to Sannidhanam when he suddenly collapsed. Despite efforts to revive him at the Pampa hospital, he could not be saved.

 The Travancore Devaswom Board Announced it would bear the cost of transporting the mortal remains of both individuals to their hometowns. Authorities are awaiting postmortem reports to ascertain the exact cause of deaths.
