Sabarimala Gold Theft Case: SIT Questions Adoor Prakash; ED Calls Potti, Ex-TDB Officer, Actor Jayaram

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) that is looking into the Sabarimala gold theft case questioned UDF convenor Adoor Prakash on Saturday in Thiruvananthapuram.

He went to the Crime Branch office in the morning and gave his statement. The questioning lasted about two and a half hours. After the session, Adoor Prakash told reporters that he answered all questions honestly based on what he knows.

He said the SIT mainly asked him about Unnikrishnan Potti, the main accused in the case. He shared whatever information he had. He also said the team did not ask him anything about money transactions. However, reports say the SIT has collected some important documents related to money transactions.

The SIT had called him for questioning after earlier allegations linked him with Potti. There were also reports that Adoor Prakash and Congress leader Sonia Gandhi had met Potti at her residence.

Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday issued a summons to Unnikrishnan Potti for detailed questioning in the Sabarimala gold theft case, where he is the main accused. He was recently released on statutory bail in the gold theft cases. The ED has also summoned actor Jayaram for questioning in a money laundering investigation linked to the Sabarimala gold “loss” case, officials said. In addition, the ED on Friday began questioning former Sabarimala administrative officer S Sreekumar in connection with an ongoing probe into alleged financial irregularities linked to the Sabarimala temple administration.

The SIT questioned Adoor Prakash at a time when the opposition is protesting against the CPM and the state government over the gold theft case. Adoor Prakash has admitted that he met Potti several times before, but he denies having any link to the Sabarimala gold theft.
